For the partner

Your body
The following symptoms are typical:

Nervousness/anticipation – you might feel
inadequate for the role of motherhood, but,
you will rise to the occasion! Make sure that you
discuss your feelings with your partner and with
other supportive mothers in your community,
family or network of friends.

Hemorrhoids – can cause pain, itching and rectal
bleeding particularly during a bowel movement.
Keep your stools soft, use witch hazel compresses,
ice packs, or Tucks. You can also use Anusol HC
or Preparation H as needed.

Varicose veins – you may experience aching or
throbbing. Some will disappear after birth. In the
meantime, avoid standing for a prolonged period
of time, elevate your feet, wear support hose.
